A Cultural Bonanza That Entertained Chennai


A sea of humanity descended upon Mylapore’s Mada streets as Mylapore Fest entered the last leg for 2016. Whether you are an avid history buff, a foodie, photographer, or even an environmentalist, this year’s fest had something for everyone.

Some visitors, like Aishwarya from Valasaravakkam, said that food was the highlight of the fest. Who can argue with them when you get freshly fried molagai and vegetable bajjis, paav bhaji and finishers like kulfi ice, which can tantalise anyone’s taste buds!

There were others, like 60-year-old Vijaylakshmi, a hardcore Mylaporean for over two decades, who swears by folk dance. Balaji from Mandaveli, however loved the puppet show. He said it was the first time that his children had seen something like it. Dancers were seen shaking a leg to the trippy beats of the urumi melam and a cute-looking Ganesha with wooden limbs spoke on stage................Read more
