Women start ahead, but finish behind


India ranks 108 out of 144 countries in the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2017, which measured countries’ performance inensuring parity between women and men. Among four sub-categories of health, educational attainment, political empowerment and economic
participation, it was in the last that the country ranked lowest. That despite higher enrolment rates for girls.
