Chennai Has Officially Beaten Delhi As The Most Polluted City In The World


With a suspended particulate matter 45% above permissible levels, Chennai's air pollution levels have broken a new record.They've also beaten Delhi's record for air pollution, once considered the most polluted city not only in India, but the world, In fact, Chennai was third on the list of India's most polluted just a few months ago, also found mention ranking in Asia and world pollution rankings ( 37th in Asia and 182 in the world)

And the lack of rains, which temporarily rinse the air clean of SPM, has made it worse. What has contributed to this horrifying statistic is North Chennai's industrial belt and an expected increase in cars.
