330 more trees to be cut for Hero Honda Chowk flyover


Another 330 trees will be cut to make space for the upcoming Hero Honda Chowk flyover. Earlier, 52 trees had been cut for the same project.

A senior forest department official said the range officer had already carried out the inspection of the trees that are to be cut and formal permission to cut the trees will be granted this week by the office of conservator of forests.

The permission, however, will be given only on condition that HUDA will ensure 3,300 trees are planted in lieu of the ones chopped down. Sunder Lal, divisional forest officer, said, "As a routine, we ask the agencies to compensate for the loss of greenery during infra projects by planting 10 times the number of trees."...............Read more
