Zomato is planning to introduce a new filter that will allow users to find barrier-free and wheelchairaccessible restaurants.
When Radha Ramesh and her family go out to a restaurant, they often take plates and cutlery with them. Both her sons, who have cerebral palsy, are food lovers, and love to eat out, she said, but the experience comes with certain challenges. “Getting inside a restaurant itself is difficult. Sometimes, there are steps outside and even though there are often people to help lift the wheelchair, it always invites stares.” The plates and cutlery they take are adapted, she said, because often, the restaurant’s own is hard to use.
Finding restaurants that are accessible is not easy. In an attempt to make some difference to this, Zomato, the popular restaurant search and review website (and app), is planning to introduce a new filter that will allow users to find barrier-free and wheelchair accessible restaurants in their cities.
