Bellary zilla panchayat president N. Rudragouda has said officials of Agriculture and Horticulture Departments should create awareness on advantages of organic farming method among the farmers.

Mr. Rudragouda was speaking after inaugurating a weekly outlet for the sale of organic farm produce. The outlet was set up jointly by the Savayava Krishi Parivar and the departments of Agriculture and Horticulture on the taluk office premises here recently. Mr. Rudragouda said all assistance would be extended to farmers to take up organic farming.

Mr. Rudragouda appealed to farmers to reserve at least 25 percent of their cultivable land for organic farming to start with. He said assistance would be provided to farmers embracing organic farming method by the departments concerned.
