Now, seed-vending machine for city farmers


The State Horticulture Mission (SHM) has installed a seed vending machine at the premises of the Krishibhavan in Palayam. One can just insert a Rs 10 note into the machine and get an assorted pack of seeds of Cow pea, Okra, Brinjal, Chilli and Amaranthus.

The project, part of the Project Vegetable Initiative for Peri-Urban Clusters, was introduced here on Wednesday by the Kerala State Horticulture Mission with financial assistance from the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.

"The major thrust of the project will be to enhance organic vegetable production and reduce dependence on neighbouring states for vegetables," said SHM officials.
