When rocket tech touches daily life


A ‘skin’ for artificial limbs, a fisherman’s SOS device, an unusual coat for the house and a powder that puts out fire — all these have something in common.

They are among the 300 down-to-earth products that have descended from indigenous rocket and satellite sciences. According to the Indian Space Research Organisation, another hundred such space spin-offs that can touch our lives in some way are on its technology transfer shelves.
