A people’s museum built around the narratives of the Partition, replete with stories from not so long ago

The Partition Museum in Amritsar was still a work in progress in April when I visited it. But just walking through the two rooms that are ready was a sobering experience. Stories echoed through the rooms, with interviews, speeches, audio clippings of first-person accounts of survivors, and recitations of verse.

One of the many clips is of Kuldip Nayar talking about his interview with Cyril Radcliffe in London in 1971. He talks about how when Mountbatten sent for Radcliffe, the latter had no knowledge of the country...................Read more
