Organic food as a means to a healthy lifestyle is gaining popularity among city residents, say representatives of NGO Community Organisation for Rural Development (CORD), who, on Wednesday, announced their plans to launch an organic lunch delivery system in the city.
The city currently has at least eight super markets and several small stores that sell only organic food and vegetables, they said.
Encouraged by the patronage to the stores, CORD is launching a vegetarian lunch that will be prepared using produce from farmers in Kancheepuram and Puducherry, and cooked at a kitchen run by women self-help groups.
