The government has made it mandatory for PSUs to spend a small part of their profits on corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects. The vision is to involve them in national development. However, long used to doing social projects in a ritualistic manner, most PSUs are unable to fully utilise their CSR funds and rise up to the national objective.
