‘Storytellers are meant to help people’

Regina Ress trades tales at the fifth Chennai Storytelling Festival

“I’m dead serious that I’m pretty casual about storytelling,” Regina Ress laughs. No wonder she’s a New York City riot. She’s told stories from the alleyways of Spain to the stages of Broadway, but finds Chennai a heartwarming mystery. The people are warm, she says, and her stories are just as impactful as across the globe.

“It’s my first time in Chennai and I didn’t know what to expect, but I feel so welcomed and comfortable. The community of storytellers here is incredible,” Ress says. Having inaugurated the Chennai Storytelling Festival on February 3, she’s looking to the grand finale.
